Dear Valued Customer,
The year is seriously flying right by! It seems like yesterday we were preparing for the busy wedding season (June-August) and now here we are halfway through October! In fact, by the time you receive the next newsletter, Halloween will have just happened and you’ll be focusing on Thanksgiving and the holidays that follow soon after.
One of the best things about this time of year for anyone who has children in their lives is getting to watch them enjoy all of the fun holiday activities. Since Halloween is just a couple of weeks away, you will find one fun Halloween recipe and one Halloween craft you can enjoy with your children this year!
Popcorn Pumpkin Delight
Ingredients:
- 4-5 C. Popped Popcorn
- 1 C. Candy Corn
- ½ C. Butter
- 2.5-3 C. Mini Marshmallows
- Red Food Coloring
- Yellow Food Coloring
- Black Twizzlers (cut into thirds)
Directions:
- Mix the popcorn and candy corn in a mixing bowl and set aside. If you like, you can add one cup of salted peanuts for extra flavor and crunch.
- Next, in a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Then stir the mini marshmallows in and add four drops of red food coloring followed by three drops of yellow food coloring. Continue to stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.
- Next, pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn mixture and stir until the popcorn, candy corn and nuts (if added) are evenly distributed.
- Finally, spray a muffin pan with nonstick spray and spoon popcorn mixture into the muffin cups. Insert one small black twizzler piece (should be cut into thirds) into the top of the popcorn mixture. Shape into balls and leave alone for 10-15 minutes, or until firm.
- Enjoy!
Hanging Bat
What you will need:
- 3 Egg Carton Sections (comes with 12…cut out 3)
- Wiggly eyes
- Markers
- String
- Scissors
- Glue
Directions:
- Take two of the egg carton sections and cut a semi-circle on the bottom of each to make them look similar to bat wings.
- Take the one whole egg carton and glue one of the cut cartons to one side and the other cut carton to the other side to form the bat. (The cartons need to be upside down with the rounded side facing the ceiling)
- Glue the wiggly eyes to the center (whole) egg carton and use the markers to draw a mouth.
- Poke a small hole into the top of the center egg carton (bat’s body). Cut a long piece of string and tie a knot (big enough to not go through the hole) at one end of it. Then, thread the string from the bottom of the bat up through the hole and hang from the ceiling!
Hopefully, you and your children will enjoy the Halloween recipe and activity listed above during your Halloween festivities!
