While I absolutely love this time of year, the one part I dread is the two week long Christmas break. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my kids, but after the first few days of being home my 6 year old tends to get a little bored. And, when he gets bored, he often winds up in trouble. Therefore, I am always on the lookout for activities and crafts that we can do to help keep him busy. If you are also looking for something to keep your kiddos busy over break, here are some neat craft ideas you might try with them!
Popcorn Ball Ornaments and Snowmen – Do you remember making popcorn balls as a kid? I can remember making them in school and then getting to eat them afterwards. It was fun. Well, a new spin on the popcorn balls is to make them in different sizes and attach strings to them and use them for tree ornaments. You can even color them with food coloring! Here are the directions if you need them. Another fun idea is to make popcorn balls in three different sizes and make snowmen with them, using chocolate chips for the eyes, mouth and buttons. Paper Chains & Snowflakes – This was another one of my favorite crafts as a kid, and my 6 year old is at the perfect age to enjoy it himself! I’m going to help him cut strips of red and green construction paper and glue them together so he can make his own festive garland to decorate the house with.
